Deputy Auditor - Auditor's Office

  • NATURE OF WORK:
  • Under the general supervision of the County Auditor, the Deputy Auditor performs a variety of accounting, clerical, and administrative support tasks to ensure efficient and accurate operations within the Auditor’s Office.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK:
  • Answers incoming calls and greets visitors, directing them to the appropriate staff of information.
  • Performs basic alpha or numerical filing to ensure documents and records are properly organized.
  • Sorts and delivers mail; prepares materials for mailing or internal distribution.
  • Makes basic numerical computations and posts to various detailed records.
  • Inputs various information into automated databases.
  • Processes routine billings and payments.
  • Maintains basic bookkeeping records and prepares recurring reports.
  • Assists Auditor with the election process, processing deeds and other legal documents.
  • Processes monthly payroll and benefits enrollment for incoming employees
  • Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
  • Basic knowledge of office procedures, practices, methods and equipment, including a personal computer.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical computations, recording and filing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
  • Ability to perform light physical work and to carry up to 30 pounds; the ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, kneel and reach; the possession of hand/eye coordination sufficient to operate a personal computer and traditional office equipment; ability to talk and hear in person or by telephone; and the ability to see and read instructions and reports.
  • DESIRED MINUMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of office or administrative experience.
  • Vocational or college level coursework in accounting, finance, or business administration would be beneficial.
